VALUE ADDED PRODUCTS

These items are not typically included in a standard truss quote. If you are interested in any of these items, please let your Sales Consultant know.

Value Added Products save you time and money at the job site:

  • Faster build time = reduced crew hours
  • Eliminate the guess work for estimating the real costs and supplies needed for framing hip roofs and other types of jobs
  • Peace of mind knowing your items will be supplied as part of a complete designed system by trained professionals
  • Reduced jobsite theft – manufactured products don’t have the appeal of loose lumber
  • Assists you in providing a better-built project
  • Reduced job-site waste

WEB BLOCKING

Some trusses are required to have additional bracing for webs that have excessive compression.  When one of these trusses does not have matching trusses setting adjacent to it, certain webs need to be scabbed or “T”-braced in the field.

An exciting and popular option to reduce the majority of this time-consuming and potentially dangerous field framing is Web Blocking.  In short, we are able to apply bracing for the majority of webs where needed.

The bracing is applied in our shop
and does not affect the truss width.  Furthermore, the shop drawings that you receive with your order will clearly indicate that the bracing requirement for the web in compression has been satisfied, making the inspection process simpler.

HIP LAY-ONS

Hip Lay-ons:  Eliminate the need to measure and cut purlin frames on the jobsite.

Hip lay-ons are non-structural trusses that are built on our tables that set into the dropped down portion of hip set trusses. Hip layons save countless hours for the framer on a jobsite by eliminating the need to measure and cut purlin frames, and also help to reduce wasted material. Feed back from carpenters also reveals that the lay-on works as a template in ensuring that the trusses are set plumb & true. Furthermore, purlin framing can be very difficult to estimate the time & material needed to complete the job.  Lay-ons eliminate much of the traditional guess-work required in estimating the real costs of framing hip roofs.

VALLEY SETS

Replace ridge beams and rafters normally used to frame in areas.

Valley sets are another time saver on the jobsite. These trusses are designed to sit on top of a sheathed roof trusses and eliminate the ridge beam and rafters that carpenters normally use to frame these areas.

Also, consider that valley sets are an engineered portion of the entire roof system.  You can rest assured that the valley framing has not been field-designed.  Traditional valley framing with dimensional lumber often uses larger dimensional lumber, and may introduce unintended concentrated loads on the truss system.

NAILED GIRDERS

Girders are trusses designed to support additional loads. Many times these girders are required to be more than one ply. Any time a girder is more than one ply (2 or more identical trusses attached together to work as one structural member).  The engineered drawing(s) will specify the proper nailing (bolting) that is required to ensure that the structural member will perform as intended.

Save labor, crane-time & fasteners and have our trained workmen nail/bolt your girder(s) together in our shop to meet the engineering requirements.
